Description
The project was based around fieldwork by English Heritage and Thanet District Council staff, with photography by English Heritage photographers. The project resulted in a book: 'Margate's Seaside Heritage' (2007) which charts Margate's development as a seaside resort, its decline in the latter part of the twentieth century and early signs of regeneration. The book highlights the value of re-using Margate's legacy of historic buildings in regeneration.
Archival History
Material was received from EH Survey staff. Some photographic jobs used in the publication 'Margate's Seaside Heritage' were recorded by the photographer as being taken for the wider Seaside Project. Where photographs have appeared in the publication the entire job has been treated as belonging to the Margate project.
