Brick Kiln, Chimney, Drying Sheds, Boiler and Engine House at Bursledon Brickworks south Section, Coal Park Lane, Swanwick - Fareham
Steam driven brickworks complex in use from C19 until 1970's with what appears to be the earliest surviving Staffordshire type continuous kiln. Now a museum. A failing asbestos roof over the significant brick kiln was replaced 2022-2023 through a Historic England Repair grant. The brickworks complex remains at risk due to the vulnerability of the unsupported walls to roofless drying sheds. National Lottery Heritage Fund have grant-aided a Development Phase for repairing and converting the drying sheds. An enabling development scheme should fund further repair works, to be completed 2024-2025.
