The collection contains one book published for private circulation by William Arrol and Company Limited in 1909 under the title: 'Bridges, structural steel work, and mechanical engineering productions'.
There are many photos, line drawings and details of a range of industrial projects, steel work and machinery in England, Scotland (Dalmarnock Works) and abroad. Bridges include the Forth Bridge, Tower Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Tay Bridge, Tyne Bridge, Wear Bridge at Sunderland, Swale Lifting Bridge and Manchester Ship Canal and there is a list of bridge projects by Arrol erected between 1879 and 1909. Also covered in the book are: viaducts, engineering works, structural steel work, power stations, breweries, cranes, presses, motors, coal elevators, and pumps. The book includes detailed specifications, formulae and diagrams.
