Description

'Crafting the landscape: how industry shaped the Lake District' is the working title for a project including a number of sites. This project is a partnership with the Lake District National Park Authority and the National Trust against the background of a bid for World Heritage status. It aims to draw together the results of two decades of site-specific and thematic research into various forms of industrial activity in the Lake District, in order to emphasis the role that historic industries have played in shaping the appearance of what is widely perceived as purely picturesque countryside.
