Description

A series of 17 mounted prints of drawings by architects Verity and Hunt for their unexecuted designs for an architectural competition for a new building for the Admiralty and War Office in London. The competition was won by Leeming & Leeming but the scheme was abandoned. The prints show plans, sections and elevations and are recorded In Bedford Lemere daybook entries 5231-5234. Some of the drawings were later re-photographed for The Builder and are recorded as entries 5401-5440.

The photographs were commissioned for publication in 'The Builder' magazine.

The numbers for the prints are: BL05231/001, BL05231/002, BL05231/003, BL05231/004, BL05231/005, BL05231/006, BL05231/007, BL05231/008, BL05232/001, BL05232/002, BL05232/003, BL05232/004, BL05232/005, BL05232/006, BL05232/007, BL05233 and BL05234.

Archival History

The photographs were acquired by the NMR in 2010.
