8 Castle Park Lancaster, Lancashire

This house was built in 1753. It was then altered and another floor added in 1854. The earliest document relating to it is a mortgage. It dates from 1753 and is by Thomas Mackrel. He was a barber and peruke (wig) maker, who had inherited a share of 'one messuage or dwelling house, one maltkiln, one stable...etc'. Other deeds include a plan and notes for 'taking down a part of this dwelling house... and built and reared the additional height, Nov. 3rd 1854' which refer to the later alterations.
