Bessie Surtees House, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
A 16th century five-storey, timber-framed merchants house, now united with Milbank House. The house is famous as being the house from which Bessie Surtees, a merchant's daughter, eloped with John Scott the future Lord Eldon and Chancellor of England (1771). This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
