Bunbury Locks, Bunbury, Cheshire
The Ellesmere & Chester Canal was amalgamated with the Birmingham & Liverpool Junction Canal to become the Shropshire Union Canal in 1845. The canal shortened the route between Birmingham and the Mersey by almost 20 miles. Pictured are the locks at Bunbury. In the distance are stables for the horses that pulled the barges.
