Clintsfield Colliery Engine House, Tatham, Lancashire
This Engine House was built in the early 1800s for the Clintsfield Colliery (mine). It was used for pumping water from the increasing depths within the main shaft of the mine. Without it the mine would have been flooded and unworkable. After the mine closed the engine house was converted into a house. It is probably the only remaining colliery engine house in Lancashire. It was marked as an engine house on the 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey map in 1847.
