Council Houses, 59-61 Dunster Street, Leicester

This pair of semi-detached council houses were built in c1922. They were designed by Arthur Walkerley as a response to the need for economic and well designed houses for workers after the Great War, the much discussed 'Homes for Heroes'. He was an influential local politician, architect, developer, philanthropist and Chair of Leicester's first Housing and Town Planning Committee in the 1920s.
