Council Housing, 25-35 Frog Street, Bampton, Devon

These three pairs of semi-detached houses were built in 1924. They were designed by Petter and Warren, for Bampton Urban District Council. They have a distinctive semi circular steel roof construction which is clad in curved corrugated iron sheets. These houses were built for the local council as low-cost housing and their design was based on the principles that Lt Colonel Nissen, of the Royal Engineers, used in the construction of the First World War Nissen huts. There are similar council houses in Yeovil, West Camel and Barwick in South Somerset District.
