Currant Street (now Cliff Road area), Nottingham, Nottingham
A terrace of houses in Currant Street, Nottingham. There are three small children on the steps outside one house and a man on the steps of the neighbouring property. They were probalby built for and used by frame-work knitters. This was a major industry in the city at one time. These houses were demolished in the 1920s and 30s, as part of the city's 'slum clearances'. They were replaced by some of the earliest Council Houses in England. These are in the area between what is now called Cliff Road and Canal Road.
