Dorman Memorial Museum, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough
The museum was built in memory of Lieutenant G.L. Dorman who was killed in the South African War. He was the son of Sir A.J. Dorman who was the co-founder of Dorman Long Ltd., one of the major industrial companies in Middlesbrough. The museum dates from 1901/04 and was designed by J.M. Bottomley, Son and Welford (Leeds and Middlesbrough). It is built in an Edwardian Baroque style from smooth red brick with terracotta dressings. It has Welsh slate roofs and a copper-clad dome.
