Elizabethan House Museum, 32, New Street, Plymouth
This merchant's house dates from very early in the 17th century. It was restored in 1926 by AS Parker. New Street contains a number of fine 17th and 18th century houses. Many of them were lived in by merchants involved in trading goods through the port of Plymouth. This is probably the most complete and unaltered example of a jettied merchant's house in Plymouth. During the 17th century it was home to three Plymouth mayors including privateer William Parker, a friend of Sir Francis Drake. The house has since been used as a museum of Plymouth life.
