Former Sunday School, Airmyn, East Riding of Yorkshire
This building was originally a Sunday School built in 1834 for 120 pupils. It was paid for by George Percy, Earl of Beverley. By 1840 it had become a day school. Before the 1870 Education Act schools were built by religious groups, charities or wealthy landowners as in this case. Many children worked and were only able to attend school on a Sunday. Airmyn still (2010) has a small village school although it moved to a new building in the 1990s.
