Maple and Co's works, Greater London
Workers testing and packing canvas tents, in Maple and Co's works, adapted during the First World War into a munitions factory. These tents were destined for troops on the front lines in the last six months of the First World War. Maple and Co was a large department store selling furniture, carpets and interior fittings, but like so many other companies, would have had their work force and factories adapted to help the war effort.
