Old Sarum, near Salisbury, Wiltshire
Reconstruction drawing of the gatehouse to the inner bailey of the castle at Old Sarum in 1140. The Norman cathedral was transferred to nearby Salisbury in 1219 leading to the castle's decline. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
