Paris Pavilion, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
This building was built as a Bath House with accommodation for the owner above. It was built in c1800 and it forms the central element to a group of spa buildings. The first spa well in Harrogate was discovered by a Dr Michael Stanhope. It featured in his publication 'Cures without Care' in 1627. Harrogate's popularity increased again during the eighteenth century. This was when a doctor called Timothy Bight claimed the spa water at Harrogate had healing properties.
