Railway station, Byfield, Northamptonshire
Waiting for the train on Byfield station, looking west towards Stratford-upon-Avon. Byfield was on the East & West Junction Railway running from Towcester to Stratford. In 1910 it merged with the Northampton & Banbury Railway to form the Stratford-upon-Avon & Midland Junction. For small towns like Byfield, the coming of the railways in the 19th century opened up other parts of the country to most people for the first time.
