St Nicholas School, Kingston Upon Hull
This school was built around 1897 in a Renaissance style. It provided education for orphan children in the Newland Homes. This complex of orphan homes and other buildings was built around 1897 by the Port of Hull Society for fatherless children of Sailors. The money was endowed by various benefactors whose names are attached to the buildings. In 2006 the St Nicholas’ School buildings and some surrounding land were leased to Hull City Council Education Department. The rest of the Newlands Estate was sold in 2004.
