Stained Glass
This stained glass panel is one of 29 held at the Leicester City museum. They were originally made in England for a house not a church. The house is known as The Wygston House and is in Highcross Street. The panels were removed from the house in 1824. This panel is titled The Sacrements; Unction. The scene shown is somebody close to death who is being given the last rites by a priest. There is a lot of detail including a close stool or commode in the foreground. The panels have been dated from the clothes worn by the women. The people in the scenes are thought to be modelled on members of the Wygston family.
