Thorndon Hall, Brentwood, Essex
This large country house was built between 1764-1970 by James Paine, one of the leading country house architects in the country at the time. When the current house was unveiled King George III attended. The current house replaced the Old Thorndon Hall which was located about a mile to the south of its current position. The estate of Thorndon Hall can trace its records back to the 1086 Domesday Survey. The building was converted into apartments in 1980.
