Waring and Gillow, Lancaster, Lancashire

Richard Gillow was a cabinetmaker in Lancaster in the 18th century. In 1897 the company he started merged with that of the furniture makers Waring. This was one of many mergers at the time, largely brought about by manufacturer's attempts to safeguard their companies. During world War One the company turned its skills to war work .
