Number 4: Traditional Farm Buildings

Traditional farmsteads and farm buildings make an important contribution to the remarkably varied nature of England's landscape and are fundamental to its character. Although most traditional farm buildings have now become partly or wholly redundant for modern agricultural purposes, many will have the potential to be of economic value through their capacity to accommodate a variety of new uses.

This edition of Heritage Online Debate will look at traditional farm buildings following the launch of new guidance from Historic England on the adaptive reuse and maintenance of this asset type.

For this debate we have used some of the speeches from prominent people at the recent launch of the new Historic England Historic guidance on adaptive reuse and maintenance in October 2017. We hope that you'll contribute to this debate too. Not only on the articles below, but also with your thoughts on how to progress this agenda within the heritage sector.
